Week 4

Week 4

Havordh won crown just to catch up, but Angus was second. Was great to see everyone that was there. Ricky's grown in a goatee, its very becoming.

Reading: Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clark. Came recommended twice from outside sources, so I got it from Paperback swap.

I finished 3 pieces of cardwoven trim made with wool yarn that I'd bought before Christmas. Its a little thick, but turned out pretty good. There is a picture of it in the collage above.

http://sentimentalstitches.net/free-stuff/ is the address that has the pattern for the schlep bag. Finally have a photo of that to share as well above.

Other interesting websites I found this week include www.trailermash.com where talented people play with movie trailers turning the shining into a family comedy, and Mary Poppins into a horror flick. and http://www.canongate.net/Lists/WarPoliticsAndWorldAffairs/9UnusualDisasters which is a list of strange disasters thruout history.

Did work out 3 times this week. Pretty sore today for some reason. Skipped Friday because of Marilyn Wilson's baby shower. It was pretty fun.

Michelle and Dale are supposed to come into town tonight for the event tomorrow. Looking forward to that a lot.

2007 Week 3

A little bit better week. Did work out a couple of times, so that's a good thing. Wrapping up camper registration for this weekend, will be very glad when it is over.

Reading: Making Waves by Cassandra King. So far so good, its set in NW Alabama. She is Pat Conroy's wife, and I enjoyed the other book by her I read (the Sunday Wife). I passed Gates of Fire on to Steve so he can read it too.

Sewing: I did finish the schlep bag and it's real cute. Will try to post a photo of it this week. The other project for the weekend was cutting out pieces for the BB quilt. I've gotten 4 sets sewn together and the initial cut made so now to get them sewn together.

Crown is this weekend. We are going to day trip down after camp registration and back after court. Angus, Havordh, Uther, Gathen, Loric, Grim, James the Holy, and 3 more that I can't remember right now. My bet is on Angus.

I did start hemming my headrail, but I've got to get working on some garb if I'm going to have anything new to wear at Gulf Wars.

Week 2

Week 2 update.

reading: Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield (story of Thermopylae) came highly recommended by Angus, finally getting around to reading it, it is excellent. also read Blood and Guts: a history of medicine and Notes on a Small Island this week. (nonfiction, I have a bad habit of scanning some stuff)

glad that tv series we like are coming back with new episodes. House, Smallville, and Grey's Anatomy all new!

Working on a schlep bag, will post the url for it with a picture when I get it done. not really working on anything else right now.

Been kinda a up and down week. Wishing we could hang out with our friends more than we get to recently, but it seems like life keeps getting in the way too often. got camp this weekend so we have to skip Angus and Meghan's SCA wedding. I wish I was able to be there, but maybe I'll find a nice card and send them next week.

2007 Week 1

2007 Week 1

here we are, Friday of the first week of the year. Lets see if I can do a better job this year of keeping up with this silly thing than last year.

Reading: The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier. very enjoyable. would have finished it already except for this awful thing called work.

Work is alright and all though. Coaches have been out all week at their meeting. So I've been able to get most of the camper stuff done without them bothering me.

Sewing: not much, need to get on it if I'm going to get anything done for Gulf wars. Did buy some red linen and organized some of my other fabrics, so that maybe soon I can actually get started on something.

Quilting: got a good bit of quilting fabrics for Christmas so that will be fun to plan and work with for a while. I have an idea to work out a pattern for a quilt called "Teeny Tiny" that Barbara Black from Huntsville teaches. She is going to be in Tishamingo next week, but I won't be able to go to the class. Maybe I can figure it out this weekend.

oh, the other cool thing that I've been doing is playing with the Kaleidoscope Kreator. got that for Christmas too... it is absolutly terrific.

Cooking: once again back to Christmas presents... I got a cookbook from Doc Henley and have LOVED it. I've cooked about 4 things from it already.. If there weren't so many Squid recipies in it I'd say I was going to cook everything in it.

No resolutions, but I did make it to the gym for Yoga once this week. :)
