Week 17

A good week.

Steve's Birthday was Wednesday. We had a very nice night at home, hanging out on the couch together. I got him a couple of presents, that he really liked.

I got a new haircut yesterday. Still getting used to it. It's kinda a stacked bob, will have pictures from next week I'm sure, cause we leave tomorrow going to DISNEYWORLD! we'll be gone for a week, so no update next week.

Projects: I strung my inkle loom with a card weaving project and am almost done with it this week. So that should work well in the future. It's nice to be able to easily pick it up and work with it for a bit and then be able to put it down just as easily.

Reading: The Infinity Concerto by Greg Bear. Its a little wierd, but not too bad.

Coronation was this past weekend. There were about 15 ladies in waiting dressed all in Tudor making quite an impression. Most of the outfits were wonderful, there were a couple of issues, but not all that surprising really as new as that style is to all of us here in GA.

Padruig had a heart attack after celebrating when the knights in his retinue were able to protect him from attack attempts. (cause our knights can't EVER keep our crowns alive)

We had a great household meeting on Saturday morning after court. Planning on working on the GW campsite, banners, sheetwall, tokens, fund raising, and the green&white. Steve and Jackie were actually there and are hoping to be able to be at more events in the future.

I managed to get the War banner back from the Kingdom trailer. So that is a good thing...

I snuck up to evening court to deliver a sketch of the banner ram to James (for event tokens I think) and when I got there they had Marion up in front of the court surrounded by all the Laurels! They completly blindsided her; they even called Elezar and made sure that he drove up to be there for the announcement. They will actually do the elevation at the Live weapon event at Kings Arrow in June. (Vigil at the Dragon)

Then they called Laliane up and gave her the Diamond Challice!

Sara McGreggor was called up and asked to join the Pelicans. Her elevation will be at Loch Bais Birthday Bash also in June.

So a very good day all together!

Feast ran very late and the ball didn't even start lining up until after Caillin and I turned into pumpkins.

Week 16

Today is Mom's birthday. She said she's feeling a good bit better today. She thinks all the anestheia chemicals are finally out of her system. She liked her Nintendo DS, of course I forgot to take the camera to record her opening it for posterity... but she likes it anyway. She said it's hard to use with one hand, but she can still play the games that just need vocal imput.

Bogdacious was fabulous fun. It rained buckets, and there was no fighting, but lots of drinking and good company. We actually ate feast and got pelted by feast crossbows loaded with little marshmallows (her highness has no poker face). There was an auction using "Bog Bucks" after feast that was a ton of fun. I bought a bottle of bourbon, but didn't get the leather strips that Uric wanted (they went from craft supply to sex toy... then the price went thru the roof).

This weekend is Coronation down at the Utica Jewish camp. We are camping because the weather is supposed to be lovely.

Reading: Orchid Beach by Stuart Woods. Murder mystery author recommended by Coach McNickle. Its a pretty easy quick read.

Went to the Starkville Quilt guild meeting on Tuesday. Funnily enough the lady at whom's garage sale I bought the quilt frame was there. We had a pretty good laugh about that. The project was tiny paper pieced quilt jewelry. I made one by hand, it seemed to work pretty well. So I may make a few more. Gonna try to make earrings, they were making pins.

I picked up about 8 issues of Budget Travel magazine from the thrift shop and have been really enjoying reading through them picking out good tips for our London trip. We are for sure going regardless of the price!

My roses in the backyard are beautiful... The white one is just full of blooms and is putting up suckers with a vengence. The pink one is sprawling all over the place, and at least occasionally growing down and over the fence like I want (It bites though).

Week 15

Pretty week, finally got back in the gym for a couple of days. It's going to be a long hard road to get back to 4 days a week.

Going to Feast of St. Bogdacious this weekend. Looking forward to it very much. It's been really boring here in town the last couple of weekends cause we couldn't get anyone to come hang out with us. Everyone is too busy.

I finished the black and red blocks... now just have to figure out how to set them.

Reading: Winter's End by Robert Silverberg. (I did bail on the Intrigues book from last week's blog)

Mom had surgery on her shoulder on Thursday, she came through it very well and they didn't even keep her over night like they threatened. Going to take her Birthday gift to her this weekend.

Just about done with the first season of Lost. We are really enjoying it. I can see why it's so popular. But I have to admit I'm enjoying being able to watch them at our whim rather than waiting on cliffhangers and commercials.

Fighter Practice last night and Peyton and Jack came with Benji... So we got to walk around the neighborhood and chat. It's been a while, since she's been embroiled in this class of hers so much this semester. But she says she only has 3 more lectures to go

Cool stuff online this week...

Pin Cushion

Something else I stumbled across on the web is a tutorial for making pin cushions with a bottle cap as a base... http://www.flickr.com/photos/verybigjen/sets/72057594099768007/

So I just had to try it out. I didn't have any bottle caps and wanted something a little bigger anyway. I'd scrounged these neat metal tins from Michelle at Gulf Wars, so I turne it into a pin cushion. I've got other ideas thanks to the web, and will be on the lookout for other things that I can play with.

Week 14

Its going to be cold this weekend. Not what I wanted, because it means that we have had to cancel our plans to go camping and hiking this weekend like we wanted to.

Trey, Karen and Lauren came down this past weekend for Super Bulldog Weekend to hang out with old classmates and such. We enjoyed getting to see them. Lauren sure is cute! Its nearly impossible to take a bad picture of her. The stuffed giraffe in the picture is something I picked up for her some time in the last couple of months. I thought he was adorable.

Reading: Intrigues-Book one of the Blending Enthroned. by Sharon Green. Its book 1 of a 2nd book set. I'm not sure if I'll finish it, it'll depend on how easily I can get in to it. So far its kinda slow.

Hit a couple of Garage Sales this past weekend. The best find was a Quilt frame. I paid $10 for it and it was a Grace EZ3 frame that was brand new and never been assembled. It retails for $300! We spent the afternoon assembling it and then putting a quilt top on it... I've actually quilted a few of the squares. I dunno if I'll keep it for good, but it's just kinda cool to have stumbled upon such a bargin.
