Week 21

Congratulations to Prince Uther and Princess Kenna. He defeated Count Angus in the finals. It was quite exciting!

Our first experience camping at an SCA event in the Popup went well. We left there on Sunday and drove up to Jasper, AR to float the Buffalo River. We put in at steele creek and took out at kyle's landing. Were on the water for about 6 hours and didn't dump at all! There was a time or 2 that we really should have but we managed by will power and balancing kept ourselves out of that really frigid water.

Shelia came up and joined us and had a good time, except for the fact that her car hated the mountain and its engine died. We had a flat tire on Tuesday morning when it came time to go home, and lost a wheel off the camper on the way home (winona, ms off ramp). Benji's camper came unhooked and had to be dragged back up onto the road by a wrecker (luckily didn't fall too far off the mountain) Basicly, the Mountain hates us!

We camped at the Ozark Campground and had a really pretty site up next to the trees in the shade.

Doobie is not feeling well this week. I took him to the vet because he was getting dehydrated and not drinking water like he should. Unfortunatly the vet couldn't find anything wrong with him. I'm hoping he will feel a little better after his fluid treatment, but the next time I take him in it will be to the vet school at MSU. I'm not sure I believe this vet is doing as good a job as he could be doing.

Reading: Orchid blues by stuart woods. The second Holly Barker book. It's pretty much fluff, but its not bad.

Steve got a new tattoo yesterday on his foot. Its a stone dragon to go with his greenman and ram statue on his right leg. We bought him a pair of flip flops to wear around until it finishes healing.

We are going to Camric's house this weekend for a crawfish boil. Also planning to hit the family cabin on the way home to see Trey and Tom et al.

Week 20

Crown is this weekend. So we will be traveling to the Other Side of Arkansas. (guessing 8 hours) to fight in that. We are hauling the Pop-up camper and the canoe to go on and float the Buffalo River on Monday aftewards. Looking forward to seeing the sites out there, but not the drive out there. Quick somebody finish working on that Teleporter machine!

Caillin and Drogo have spent the last week prepping for crown fighting 3 out of 5 nights this week. They are both pretty bruised up, but hopefully it will help when it comes down to it.

Reading: Life of Pi. by Yann Martel, its a very strange book about a boy stuck on a lifeboat with a tiger in the middle of the ocean. The first part is him growing up in India and trying to figure out why the adults in his town don't want him to consider himself a christian, a muslim, and a hindi. That part was pretty interesting to me.

Last weekend we were in town, so I basicly piddled around the house. Erin and I dyed fabrics on Saturday, and on Sunday I cut into them to make a quilt top. (proud of myself, usually I just look at them for a long time before coming up with a project.) I'd been trying to find something else to work on recently, and hadn't been inspired. I'm working in the signature blocks that I'd collected from our last few trips to disney, its going to be nice I think.

I also dyed a large fabric piece to make curtains for the pop up. they came out a nice soft dark lavender / light purple. Goes with the light lavender ceiling nicely I think. Now I want to recover the cushions inside the camper just to have them not clash. (also a new floor I think)

Oh the biggest news is that Steve brought home a laptop. He surprised me with it and the wireless router needed to get it on the internet. Isn't he sweet!

Week 19

Disney was fabulous... Great weather, not too hot, sunny (but never got sunburned), no rain (but Florida could use it). The crowds were not too bad the first part of the week, but got worse on Friday. Steve and I both came down with some kind of stomach bug that knocked us each out 1 whole day (me on Wednesday and he on Friday). But I do love my cute new haircut!

I read Douglas Adam's Starship Titantic by Terry Jones (written in the nude) while steve was sick :(.
Now I'm reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I'm about half done with it because my coaches have been gone all week on the road, and I've been here by myself mostly just piddling.

Benji announced that he got an offer on the job in Jackson that he's been wanting.... So I guess they will be leaving this summer as well. *sucks royally*

We are here this weekend with no really big plans... Just going to hangout, grill on Saturday, prolly dye some fabric (I'm kinda stymied right now on quilt patterns...) would like to canoe on Sunday, but dunno if we will get to or not.
