Week 39

Went on the last canoe trip of the summer this weekend. Did the Bogue Chitto at McComb, MS. Lots of folks got to go! Mike and Brenna, Ricky and Danielle, Benji and Peyton, Raven and Karen, Kat and John, and Joan. It rained on us pretty steadily during the float, but it was nice after we got off, so we were able to grill in peace.

Reading: Newton's Cannon by Gregory Keyes. Happened across it on PBS and am enjoying it.

Talked to Lynn for a while Thursday evening and it was very nice to hear from her.

Working on a Jack O'Lantern applique... only quilting I have going...

Week 37 & 38

The picture to the right here is a photo I took of Sa'ad's helmet and accutromonts... he was tapped last weekend by the knights circle to be elevated to knighthood at Crown List in November. This is an exceptional honor, and very well deserved. Sa'ad is one of the most wonderful people I know.

We didn't do much weekend before last, just hung out at the house and went to see a couple of movies. (3:10 to Yuma and Stardust) & had pizza's at erin's house. The work week was very very busy sending out Coach's 18 page manifesto about the NCAA and their plans for College baseball. (so I didn't get around to updating this page)

I did read The New World by Michael Stackpole, it was pretty good. It is a book that would have been well served with a list of deffinitions in the back. When the last one came out there was one on line, but I couldn't find it this week to refresh my memory on his made up words.

This past weekend was Gleann Abhann A&S down at the King's Arrow site. Had a great time hanging out with folks. Moe got to go, he had a good time meeting folks (especially if the guys would sit down finally, they are a lot less scary that way) and he got to meet Brody. The were generally good dogs, but did get one really satisfying chew session in. He also met Pharoah, Daphne's Irish Wolfhound. That was something I wish I'd gotten a picture of, him trying to play with a that huge dog.

Margot won the A&S Champion scroll. The first one. She only had 3 entries, but scored an 18, 19, and a 20 on them respectivly. She finished the curtain of all of the diamond's devices and gave it to me. What a responsibility. I have to figure out how to display it and still keep it safe.

Reading: Knight of Darkness by Kinley MacGregor (a pen name of Sherilyn Kenyon) I'm hoping to have it finished by this weekend so I can give it to Brenna in thanks for loaning me the other book of hers.

Finally pretty weather... feeling more and more like fall everyday.

Week 36

Dragon*con was completely unlike anything I'd ever seen. It was huge!!! 40, 000 people there. Costumes of every type and skill level. people of every shape and size. I bought a painting and a wooden castle... I got outbid on 2 paintings (one of which I've since found online) Steve played a 9 hour long game of Twilight Imperium. We hung out with Rick and Marnie a lot.

I got Brenna's book signed and am about half way reading it. Sherilyn Kenyon Dark side of the moon. paranormal fiction (with a little romance) pretty enjoyable. She loaned me several to read.

Spent the week at work. updating coach's 17 page letter for every change he had (from everyone who he had read it) It is going out to EVERYBODY I think... about 1300 he says. Hoping to be able to save the sport of College Baseball from the NCAA.

Moe apparently did ok at Erin's house while we were gone. I'm glad of that at least. I hope we won't have to leave him too often, but it's good to know that he gets along alright with Pooh so far.
