Week 50
Christmas revel this past weekend, and Animaux Christmas party this weekend.
Revel went well Lindsey and Kenneth finally got to their first event! I think they had a good time, got to see good fighting and met several folks. We didn't get feast, but we did grill out and had several folks down at camp to talk with. We gave the bags and they oooed and ahhed over them a bit. Turns out they are actually going to use them for Estrella war rather than Gulf because Grey Niche is covering the GW presents. During court (3 hours of court) King Uther was scalded with a hot drink, but didn't notice.... hope he's not coming apart under the stress.
Christmas party report should be done at the end of this week, but instead we leave on Wednesday to go to London and Amsterdam. *wheee*
There were fewer folks at the party than we've had in year's past, but we still all had a great time catching up and visiting. I made spagheti for lunch, and everyone seemed to like it. We had a roast pork loin for supper and rusty made a very good chili for supper on Friday evening. (1 lb of gr beef, 1 16oz can of tomato sauce, 2 cans of pinto beans with jalapenios.... thats all, and it sure as heck tasted like chili to me)
We held the first ever meeting of the "Dixie Cup Whisk(e)y Club" tasting. We ended up with 10 different whiskeys to try. This is something I will want to do again in the future.
Balvenie Doublewood 12 year
Bernheim (wheat whiskey)
Blanton's Bourbon (coolest bottle)
Bunratty Potcheen (irish moonshine - hints of banana)
Dalwhinnie 15 year
Dalmore Cigar Malt (very strong to go with cigar)
Glendronach 15 year (pretty smooth I like it)
Knappogue Castle Whiskey (Irish)
McCallan 12 year (caillin's favorite)
Tormore 12 year (this was the one we brought, hints of almond, very nice)
The Dirty Santa game was pretty civilized this year. Marion is making pottery now and she'd brought 4 folks from Ansteorra (working on the site) and given them gobblets and such to trade in the game. 1 poor guy got his stolen about 6 times. We took home a wine rack and a metal Fluer de Lis.
We also took presents down to mom and dad for them and for them to carry to Trey and Karen. I gave my copy of "The Time Travler's wife" to mom. Cause I liked it so much I wanted someone else to read it and enjoy it too. I'd like to re-read it sometime, but I'll wait for fate and luck to bring me another copy. I brought home a bunch of horse books from my old room, now I need to find some horse crazy little girl to give them to.
Reading: Just One Look by Harlan Coben. Mystery novel with thriller overtones. I also read a dog book called If they could speak by Dr. Dodman, it should have been subtitled - Better pets through chemistry every case described included phsyco-pharmacology.
That brings the total number of books so far this year to 57. I made a list from this blog the other day, just out of curiosity.
The guest room has all the clothes for the trip piled up on the bed. I can't believe we leave for London in 48 hours.
