week 9

We didn't make it to Fighter's Collegium this weekend. Steve still didn't feel 100% and didn't feel like chancing making it worse by sleeping out in the cold just yet. So we did inventory in his building instead. Not too bad a way to kill a morning.

Movies: There will be blood, and Vantage point. Neither were quite as good as I wnated them to be.

I finally made the board loom for the card weaving. I even found my attempt at doubleface and put that on it... it's working pretty well, haven't perfected the tensioning on it yet, but that may just take practice.

I made the skirt for our costume at the cons this year. (Thelma and Shaggy) and I made this really cute bag out of my Jamaica T-shirt I never wore because it was scratchy. here is the tut. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=101237.0

Read: White Weddings, a look at weddings in the Movies primarily I picked it up at a girls house and scanned through it.

& Charlemagne's Tablecloth. The story of Feasts though history and culture. Very interesting. I will be giving it to Dametta at the event. She probably already has it, but maybe she can pass it on to someone else that would appreciate it.

week 8

Went down to Jackson this past weekend to a regional fighter practice. Caillin was still too weak and sick to fight, but we did get Lindsey and Kenneth authorized to fight. So now they will be ready for Gulf Wars.

It was kinda a drippy cold day, but we did get to have lunch with Benji, Peyton, Jack and big Jon. Very nice indeed.

Tuesday steve's eye swoll up again, but it went down in about 48 hours this time. Still no idea what causes it, but he had skipped his allergy med that day, so he'll need to be more attentive to that.

Wednesday we got a new septic tank for the house. The guy came out with a backhoe and did the entire job by himself, very impressive really. It made an entirely impressive mess of the back yard too. That will probably take a long time to get back to normal.

Read: Middlesex. I had no idea what this was going to be about, but bought it because of it's awards and hype. I didn't really enjoy it much at all, but I did finish it hoping that it would improve.

Ill Wind. the first of the Weather Warden books by Rachel Caine. I will loan this one to Brenna, it is kinda similar feel to the Dresden book, only better. I devoured this one and have put the next one on my wish list.

week 7

Winter Wonders. First event of the year for me, had a blast. Took some really good pictures, put them up on picasa to share. http://picasaweb.google.com/ratpatch/WinterWonders

Steve got the stomach bug on Tuesday. He is still getting over it, but been working on armor all along the week when he feels up to it. Lindsey and Kenneth are hoping to get to authorize this weekend in Jackson at a fighters practice.

Reading: Close to shore. shark attacks in 1916. pretty interesting stuff.

week 6 the lost week

I came home from work on Friday with a splitting headache. It didn't get any better during the evening and I got to be feverish before morning. Stomach ache and upset tummy for 3 days and fever the whole time. Finally felt human again on Wednesday enough to go back to work.

Monday the plumbers finally came out and tried to clean out the pipes, but said we needed to pump the tank. So I called the tank guys and they opened it up and the sides are caved in and needs to be replaced. So we started trying to figure out what to do from there.

1st person to come out wants to sell us a $4000 aerobic treatment plant, but I think we've found someone to just put in a new septic tank for $1600.

unable to do anything else... I read.
The bookseller of kabul that Lynne loaned me, and the first of the Dresden books Storm Front that Brenna had loaned me.

week 5

First off Steve's eye is so much better. I guess he has finally rid himself of enough histamines to be able to be normal again.

The travesty of my week was them cutting down all of the Crepe Myrtles to about 5 feet off the ground. They will grow back, but they were so beautiful and uniform. I dunno if they will ever be as pretty as they were before.

Finished the second flyer for the Athenaeum event. I think it looks ok. Picked prices to go on it... hopefully we won't lose too much money.

Not planning on much for this weekend, but events start again next week. YAY.

Benji and Peyton are expecting a little girl. It's very exciting news. They are predicting late July or early August.

Read: 20/20 thinking. kinda pointless book of lists of things to do to improve your mental health and such. basicly stay optomistic, and eat well, get enough sleep, and don't forget to excercise. Somehow I think I've heard that before somewhere.
I also got around to the Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. You could tell he wrote it, it was chock full of his humor. I really liked it. I just started the Thirteenth Tale. I think February shall be "catch-up on all the books folks have loaned me" month.
