Week 18

Beltaine this weekend. It was an event with a HUGE amount of stuff going on. In order to get to fight in the final tourny of the day (which was a qualifier) you had to do lots of other things during the day to get points. And the most points got you into the tourny.

Caillin fought in 3 tournys, I played boccee, ran a footrace, and gave out favors to folks in all the other competitions in order to get the points. Caillin got in but Uther won.

We stopped at Chilies on the way home and had supper out as a celebration of Steve's Birthday. I did get him a photo book and his mom sent him 2 photoshop books. So a good birthday. We also ordered a backpack for the camera which is really sweet.

Reading: World without end by Follett. It is really good.

Week 17

Athenaeum went off without a hitch. course we had to use different dorms than we thought because the close ones were under construction, and never really found where all the supplies we were supposed to be able to use were, and a few folks think they left stuff that we didn't find. but other than that it was fine.

The biggest news was them elevating Cathy to be a Laurel!!!

The Lunch went well we made $234. And I think everyone had a good time putting it on, I had lots of excellent help.

Serving feast was actually kinda fun. Caillin hung out in the kitchen with us too and did, I think, ALL of the dishes during feast.

Week 16

Camric & Onora's coronation this weekend. It was a good event and a very nice ceremony. We camped in the pop-up and took Moe with us. I think even he had a good time. Breauxdy was there for him to play with so they chewed on each other for most of Saturday afternoon.

Caillin bought us a smugmug membership and has been having a good time setting it up and fooling around with it.

Reading: Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. It is pretty good.

SCA meeting went really well I think, and our event is this coming weekend. I hope it goes smoothly.

Week 15

The knights voted Mandin into their circle. So that is wonderful news I thought. We were in a cabin with Camric and Alinon. Caillin swears he will never stay in a cabin again. They were really loud and obnoxious way too late on Saturday night.

I read a short little book called Fish! and am currently reading Three Bags Full - A sheep detective story.

Started working on a pair of shoes for steve. But they aren't working out as smoothly as I wanted them to. The first one was fine, but the second one torced something awful and just not right.

Jon sent me a message today that said the Horticulture Club is selling pots of "Doc" Daffodils at their plant sale today. Prolly gonna stop by there on the way home to see if I can get a pot. Just cause.

Week 14

We went to the event over in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Much ado about something. Nice event, beautiful weather and a fun time. http://picasaweb.google.com/ratpatch/MuchAdoAboutSomething

Caillin won one of the tournys we got to sit at high table with Prince Caspar and he won a large mug made by fire horse pottery.

At Fighter practice on Sunday, Meridith put on armor and fought for the first time. She is so tiny, but apparently did really well for a first timer.

We had movie night at the house and watched Flesh and Blood with everyone who wanted to come out. Already talking about what to watch next time.

Reading: Spilling Clarence. I found it on a recommendation list online. someone related it to the Time Travelers Wife... So I'm hoping it is good.
