week 20

Caillin came in 3rd in Crown list. Got beat by Camric and Rey who went on to be the finals in the tournament.

I entered the yellow hat in the A&S competition, it didn't get any comments at all, so I'm not going to feel bad about re-entering it at some other time.

I decided I was done with the long hair for a while and cut it all off on Friday morning. I went to a shop and they even sent it in to Locks of Love for me. I think it is cute.

Our big float trip got smaller and smaller as the rain got more and more certain. It did rain all of Saturday and most of Friday night. The boys did float, but most of the girls stayed in camp. We grilled on Saturday just as it was tapering off, but several folks went home anyway.

I'm almost done with the socks. I'll prolly make a little baby hat for a charity after this, but the kit for the bag came in and I've wound all of the skeins into balls in anticipation of getting the first clue. I've also pulled apart a sweater to dye and make into a shawl, at least that's the plan right now.

Read Starship Troopers, Reading Kushiels Dart.

week 19

Crown List is this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing folks and taking presents. I have a photocopy of a 1945 stars and stripes for Fenris and a Guitar for Wolf. I should have made up something pretty for Morgana's possible elevation, but I'll wait and do something later.

Didn't finish the quilt top yet from the class the other weekend, but I did make a Monmouth cap for A&S entry needed at Crown list this weekend.

Still reading Kushiels Dart, but started Starship Troopers after watching the movie on TV last weekend. Now I haven't finished either. *sigh*

Week 18

I actually took a quilt class last weekend. Haven't done that it in a while. Jelly Roll Bargello taught by Dorinda Evans. I picked out fabrics from my stash and was pretty much the only person to do that. Everyone else worked from a jelly roll of some kind. Which to my eye since they are usually all from 1 fabric line makes them pretty bland. Mine is very happy rainbowey colors.... Now I just have to finish it eventually.

Finished all of the Elgin Native Tounge series. It was pretty good, but not as good as the Ozark series.

Currently reading Kushiel's Dart. Alex and Nikki have very highly recommended it.

We got to hang out with Eric Rhonda and Drew Saturday night last weekend. They were up in Tupelo for the Blue Suede Cruise. We missed the car show due to the quilt thing, but it apparently rained a good bit of the day anyway. We went with them to Vanellies and had a great time hanging out on the patio listening to live music and enjoying each other's company.

I'm knitting my first sock. I'm about 70% done with the 1st one. I'm going to knit some coffee sleeves for Trey and Karen's birthdays week after next and will send them those with a starbucks gift card... At least thats the plan.

Weeks 15-17

Athenaeum II has come and gone. It was a great event. had just ove 100 folks there. The Art War was fabulous with amazing projects being worked on all night long. I hope they do it again next year (even if it is at a different event) I'd like to participate next time.

We skipped Beltain this year. Steve's birthday instead. We did sushi out with friends on Friday and drinks and Pizza on Saturday.

This weekend I have a quilt thing on Saturday and Wolverine tonight at the movie, and Blue Suede cruise with Eric and Rhonda and Drew.

I made steve a Jayne Hat for his birthday that he wore around pretty proudly (put it up on his facebook and got lots of cool comments) I also gave him the blue Coronet hat I made figuring he could actually get away with actually wearing that one around more places.

I've started a pair of socks from the book Knitting Rules by the Yarn Harlot, it seems slow, but prolly just cause the yarn is small.

I'm reading the Native Tongue series by Elgin and really enjoying it.

I picked up a copy of "I am America, and so can you" by Stephen Colbert today. It will go nicely with Jon Stewart's book on the shelf.
