Week 27

Well we had to do it.... we put Doobie down on last Friday afternoon. Here is the tribute that I wrote up, and posted to the GA List and family.

We are missing him for sure. There is nothing that makes me sigh sadly worse than having to bend over and pick up a piece of dropped sausage. We will get another dog soon, Steve wants a puppy :)

July 4th was Wednesday this year, we went over to Jon's house and went swimming and grilled on his new gas grill. It was nice to hang out with him and sonja and huxley. Huxley is a big goof, all play and energy, but settles down very nicely no begging at the table or anything. Apparently he is still chewing on things, and needs more excercise than he gets, but he seems to be a nice dog all around.

I heard in the news that Disney has gotten the rights to make a movie of the John Carter of Mars books, so I got the 1st one from the paperback swap to read. It's pretty bloodthirsty, dunno how they are going to make it suitably kid friendly.

Still hot and dry here... but getting a few afternoon showers at least. Flooding in Texas for like 3 weeks now, and we are 15 inches low on the yearly rain count.

We are going to Eric's this weekend to float the Okatoma and boil shrimp. Looking forward to it very much. I hope Steve is too; he's seemed a little down the last couple of days, and I'm not sure what to do to cheer him up.

The Tupelo quilt guild was this week and was a failure of a meeting in my opinion. They warned me that the owners had to be gone by 8 pm... So I nixed the program that I'd planned in order to not run late at all, and then ended up with less to talk about that I'd planned I guess, cause we were done at 7:25. We were deffinatly out by 8 though, which was my primary goal. I told them at the outset that it was going to be a boring meeting. I will be really glad to be done with this office that I'm holding (vice president) and when I'm done with that, I might be done with that guild for at least a while. No one will volunteer to do a program so we are pretty much stuck with whatever I can come up with month to month.
